On Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 2240 hours, Columbia Police patrol officers were dispatched to the First block of South Sixth Street in Columbia Borough for a shooting that just occurred. Upon arrival, responding officers located two adult males in the street that had been involved in a violent physical altercation. During this altercation one male fired a handgun at the second male, striking him and causing life-threatening injuries. Both males were transported via ambulance to a local hospital to receive treatment. Both males are known to one another. This was not a random incident, and there is no threat to the general public.
This investigation is currently ongoing, and investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage, collecting evidence, and speaking with potential witnesses.
