🐾 Community Safety Notice 🐾
Over the weekend, Upper Chichester Police Officers Sgt. Gilmore, Ofc. Connolly, Ofc. Biondi, and Ofc. Storace responded to a call involving a dog that had entered a partially frozen pool. Through their prompt action and coordinated response, the dog was safely rescued and was not injured.
While this incident ended positively, it serves as an important reminder about the dangers of ice-covered water during winter conditions.
❄️ Ice Safety Reminders for Residents and Pet Owners ❄️
• Ice thickness can vary and may be unsafe even when it appears solid
• Pets can easily fall through thin ice and may be unable to get out
• If a person or animal falls through ice, do not attempt a rescue yourself — contact 911 immediately
• Keep pets leashed and away from ponds, pools, creeks, and other bodies of water during freezing temperatures
• Children should be kept well away from frozen water unless the area is specifically designated as safe
The Upper Chichester Police Department thanks Sgt. Gilmore, Ofc. Connolly, Ofc. Biondi, and Ofc. Storace for their professionalism and dedication to public safety.
Please continue to use caution during winter weather and help keep all members of our community safe.
