The internet and world of smartphone apps are wild and wonderful places that allow us to learn and share at never-before-seen speeds. The problem is, not everything being shared is appropriate for everyone who has access to view it. Teaching your kids and teens to be responsible online is half the battle.
Parents should monitor apps featuring disappearing messages, anonymous communication, stranger matching, or hidden vaults. Key platforms to watch include Snapchat (disappearing content and location tracking), TikTok (mature algorithmic content), Discord (private unmoderated servers), and hidden "calculator" vault apps used to conceal photos.
Know what your child is doing on line!
