Sunday, December 24, 2023, at 2:15 pm, the Nether Providence Police Department was dispatched to the 500 block of Manchester Avenue for a robbery that had just occurred. The victim, an Amazon delivery driver, stated he was delivering packages at that location when he was approached by a black male wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and a face mask. The subject implied that he had a gun, took the Amazon van, and drove the vehicle on Manchester Avenue toward Baltimore Pike.
The Delaware County Emergency Communications Center broadcasted a county-wide message. At 2:32 pm, the Chester City Police Department received a call of an Amazon van occupied by two black males wearing gloves throwing packages out of the truck and into a black Chevrolet Impala with tinted windows near the 11th Street gate at Chester High School. The Chester Police spotted the Impala, and the vehicle fled from police but was located minutes later in the 200 block of Fulton Street. The car had multiple Amazon packages in the rear seat. While searching the area, officers detained the defendant, Eric Rohshod Comegys. The officers investigated further, determining the defendant owned the Chevrolet Impala. In addition, officers obtained surveillance video that depicted the defendant abandoning that vehicle moments earlier.
The defendant was charged with robbery and related offenses. He was arraigned before District Justice David Griffin, and bail was set at 10% of $500,000. The defendant was remanded to Delaware County Prison, and a preliminary hearing date has been set for January 5, 2024, before District Justice Elizabeth Gallard at Media District Court. The incident remains under investigation by the Nether Providence Police Department’s Detective Division.
