To the Residents of New Britain Township,
Professional Police Officers everywhere are horrified by the death of George Floyd. I cannot imagine any Police Officer I know would participate or stand by and watch that taking place. New Britain Township employs Police Officers who live in the general community and are part of the community they serve. All are public servants, and some have served their country in the military service. We have training in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and proper arrest techniques. We have Police Officers that are instructors in these disciplines and training is ongoing. I have been complemented how well our officers have handled mental health situations. We participated in programs to steer those addicted to narcotics to treatment rather than arrest. We have participated with the District Attorney in “Walking While Black” presentations at area schools.
This has been a trying week for all Americans. I hope we can start a healing process nationwide. The Police Department stands ready 24/7 to serve the residents of New Britain Township.
