Over the past week, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office was part of two shopping sprees that brought smiles and cheer to the faces of hundreds of children in Bucks County during the annual Shop With The Cop event.

Led by the efforts of Middletown Township Police Officer Melissa Robison, law enforcement officers from Middletown Township Police Department, Lower Southampton Police Department, Newtown Township Police Department, Newtown Borough Police Department, Upper Makefield Township Police Department, Northampton Township Police Department and Warminster Police Department took part in the annual holiday event at the Target in Middletown Township on Sunday, Dec. 6.

Deputy District Attorney Chelsey Jackman, who organized a donation drive at the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office for the event, joined Lower Southampton Township Sgt. Chris Koehnlein in shopping with 14-year-old Tommy from Middletown, who went through several aisles at the Target, picking out a number of gifts, Philadelphia Eagles socks for his dad, cooking utensils for his mom and a bean bag toss game for himself, along with other items on his wish list.

"This is a great way for the community to know that police don't just respond to emergencies," District Attorney Matt Weintraub said. "Police officers are very accessible, we're always here to help. We are a part of the community."

On Thursday night, Dec. 10, the fun continued as Quakertown Borough Police Department led their 10th Annual Shop With A Cop event at the Walmart in the borough.

Quakertown PD was joined by law enforcement officers from Richland Township Police Department, Springfield Township Police Department, Newtown Township Police Department, Pennridge Regional Police Department, Middletown Township Police Department, Dublin Borough Police Department, Hilltown Township Police Department, Bedminster Township Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police Department and the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

A great time was had by all as local children met Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, got meals provided by the generosity of area restaurants and supermarkets and shopped through aisles with the county's finest, picking out gifts for themselves and their families.
