About the Gettysburg Borough Police Department
The Gettysburg Borough Police Department has a time-honored tradition of protecting and serving our community of approximately 7,600 residents and more than two million visitors each year from around the world.
Though our department is small, our experience is broad. Our team of full-time officers, part-time officers, auxiliary officers, administrative staff, and volunteers is dedicated to providing professional, responsive service to everyone who lives in, works in, or visits Gettysburg.
Our officers bring specialized training and diverse backgrounds that strengthen our ability to serve this unique community. Department members have received advanced training in areas including SWAT, crime scene investigation (CSI), intelligence, anti-terrorism, de-escalation tactics, sexual assault investigations, and domestic violence. Several officers are multilingual, and some have lived and worked in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, bringing valuable cultural understanding to their daily work.
In addition, many of our officers are military veterans, firefighters, or EMTs. This combination of experience allows the department to provide critical assistance during emergencies and to respond effectively to the wide range of calls for service we receive each day.
