On January 10, 2024 at 5:09pm, the Saugerties Police Department responded to a hit and run motor vehicle accident, where a 21-year-old female was fatally struck while walking along the southbound shoulder of the roadway on Route 9w between the Village of Saugerties and the hamlet of Malden.  The female was transported by Diaz Ambulance to Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston where she succumbed to her injuries.
