The Patrol Division is the largest and most visible portion of the Department, providing 24-hour protection, 365 days a year. Consisting of uniformed officers in marked squad cars, the Division is the first to respond to citizens' calls for service. Their duties include enforcing traffic laws, investigating accidents, responding to reports of criminal activity or public disturbances, handling juvenile issues and alarms, and fulfilling other requests to maintain peace and order. Patrol officers prepare written reports of their observations for use in documentation, criminal or municipal charges, and follow-up investigations by the Detective Division

• Pursue fleeing suspects
• Provide road assistance to motorists and give directions if necessary.
• Identify and arrest people accused of violations, including assault, burglary, larceny, and carjacking.
• Assist transients with relocation and shelter information.
• Book and process prisoners.
• Write records of calls, investigations, and arrests.
• Escort citizens during funeral processions.
• Provide a safe and secure venue for various special details and community events.
