On August 5th, 2025, at approximately 2114 hours, Officers from the Craig Police Department along with members of the Moffat County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance with shots fired at a residence located in the 1200 block of Crest Drive in Craig, Colorado.
Upon arrival, Officers and Deputies secured the area and confirmed the presence of an armed individual believed to be inside the residence. Due to the nature of the call and the threat to public safety, the Moffat County Special Response Team (SRT) was activated and responded to the scene.
Crisis negotiators with Craig and Hayden Police made repeated attempts to establish communication with the suspect. After several hours with no contact and no response from inside the residence, a drone with the Steamboat Springs Police Department was used to fly over the scene prior to any entry by SRT personnel.
In the live drone footage, an adult male lying on the ground with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound could be seen between vehicles near the residence on Crest Drive. The SRT conducted a tactical approach and confirmed that the suspect was deceased.
The identity of the deceased is 52-year-old Shaun Burdick, from Craig. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details will be released as appropriate. No officers or other individuals were injured during the incident.
