Subject: Officer-Involved Shooting at 730 Ashley Road, Craig, Colorado
Craig, CO – On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at approximately 8:43 a.m., officers from the Craig Police Department responded to a residence located at 730 Ashley Road in Craig, Colorado, following a report of a male subject armed with a handgun.
Upon arrival, officers encountered the individual, who was actively brandishing a firearm. Shots were exchanged between the subject and law enforcement. The subject was struck during the exchange, and officers immediately rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived on scene. The subject was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was stabilized before being flown to another medical facility for further treatment.
In accordance with Colorado Revised Statute 16-2.5-301, the 14th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has been activated to investigate the incident. CIRT is an independent, multi-agency team responsible for conducting thorough and impartial investigations into critical incidents involving law enforcement. The Grand County Sheriff’s Office is leading this investigation on behalf of the CIRT
As standard protocol, the involved officer has been placed on paid administrative leave. An internal review will also be conducted separately from the ongoing criminal investigation.
