On December 6, 2025, at approximately 1732 hours, the Craig Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 2300 block of W 1st St., in Craig, CO.
According to the preliminary investigation, Vehicle #1, a 2007 Subaru Tribeca, was traveling westbound on 1st St, west of the intersection with Clay Ave, when it crossed over the double yellow line and collided head-on with Vehicle #2, a 2004 Ford Expedition.
Officers rendered first aid until EMS arrived and took over. Both drivers were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital. Unfortunately, the driver of Vehicle #1, a 35-year-old male, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital at 1905 hours.
The driver of Vehicle #2, a 28-year-old male, was treated and released with no serious injuries reported.
The investigation is ongoing, with speed and alcohol suspected to be contributing factors to the crash. The Colorado State Patrol is assisting the Craig Police Department with the investigation.
All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
