The Erie County District Attorney's Office proudly recognizes Detective Sergeant Brian Barber of the Erie Police Department on receiving the 2026 Champion of Hope and Healing Award at the 20th Annual Pittsburgh Conference on Child Maltreatment.
As a member of the City of Erie Police Department Major Crimes Unit, Detective Sergeant Barber specializes in investigations involving crimes against children, including sexual offenses, child abuse cases, and unexplained child deaths.
Detective Sergeant Barber was honored for his outstanding dedication, compassion, and leadership while serving children and families through Erie County’s multidisciplinary response to child abuse and interpersonal violence. His work alongside local partners, including the Children’s Advocacy Center and medical professionals, has helped strengthen investigations, victim advocacy, and coordinated care for vulnerable children in our community.
Our office remains deeply committed to protecting children, supporting victims, and working collaboratively with the Children's Advocacy Center and multidisciplinary team partners to ensure children and families receive the care, protection, and support they deserve.
