A diligent resident in Warwick Township alerted the Township today that they received a phone call from a phone number not directly associated with the Township, the caller used the real name of Township staff, and stating they are from the "Tax Center".  The homeowners will likely be asked to provide their financial information to process property tax payments.  THIS IS A SCAM and anyone receiving such a phone call should alert the Township immediately and or call LCWC Non-emergency Dispatch at 717-664-1180 to report the fraud attempt.   In this particular instance, the phone number used was 717-322-6457.  This phone number is not associated with the Township.   NLCRPD Offices also heard about a similar type of scam last week where the scammer says the person missed Jury Duty and needs to pay a fine over the phone.  We encourage all citizens to verify any caller that asks for personal, financial or sensitive information to use caution!!  With the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology these types of scams are only going to become more prevalent.
