As always the PTPD strives to lead its community by example. We have made the following changes to social distance as much as possible, the same as we ask everyone in the community as we try and slow the spread of Coronavirus. Effective immediately, guests are restricted at the Pequea Township P.D. all visitors will be met outside and if possible remain outside during the visit. If Possible officers will handle calls for service and follow ups to those calls via phone or email. If officers must respond to a location they will, if possible, conduct business outside. Officers will continue to conduct our normal, high visibility roving and stationary patrol throughout the township. Officers in public will remain as friendly and approachable as we always have, however officers will remain at least six feet from others and will not shake hands, high five or hug others. Officers will continue to respond to calls for service and there will be no interruption of police service to the township. We ask that anyone calling 911 for any reason advise the dispatcher of anyone in the home who is ill or suspected to have Coronavirus. Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose and difficulty breathing.
These are uncertain times and we ask everyone to remain calm as we all work through this together. Pequea Township is full of decent people and now is the time we lean on each other (figuratively not literally). We are also asking that community members call elderly and ill neighbors, family and friends. Give them a call and make sure they are physically and mentally ok. Make sure they have enough food, water and medication. We all need to work together for the betterment of everyone. Please continue to monitor local media and heed all warnings issued by local, state or federal agencies.
A special message to criminals in the area. We are asking that you strive to keep your criminal activity to a minimum during this time. Our officers will still be out and ready to arrest you, but we prefer not to risk contaminating ourselves and possibly taking it home to our families. Everyone is making sacrifices and we ask that you do as well.
This is a fluid and ever changing event. We will update as needed.
