Detective William J Shafer #4252

Detective Shafer was hired by Southern Regional Police in January 2001, after his civilian career as a Paramedic for York and Memorial Hospitals and as a Medic for the York City and Pennsylvania State Police Tactical Teams.  Detective Shafer was also a York County Deputy Coroner.  Detective Shafer started his police career as a patrol officer and soon started working as part-time Detective as well.  In August of 2013, Detective Shafer was assigned as full-time Detective for the department.  Detective Shafer also worked on the York County Forensic Team and CARE Team and was a department Firearms Instructor.  For the last two years of his tenure, Detective Shafer served as the School Resource Officer for the Southeastern School District.

Detective Shafer retired on June 5th, 2026.
