Due to heightened fire risk conditions, Newberry Township will enact a Temporary Burn Ban effective Wednesday, April 30, 2025. This measure is being taken to protect residents, property, and emergency personnel during this period of increased fire danger.
Effective Wednesday April 30,2025 and until further notice, the following activities are strictly prohibited throughout Newberry Township:
All open burning, including brush, leaves, and debris fires
Recreational and ceremonial fires (e.g., campfires, fire pits)
Use, ignition, or discharge of consumer or display fireworks
Burning of any materials listed in § 164-3 of the Newberry Township Code
The burn ban does not apply to the following:
Gas or propane grills used for cooking, provided they are operated safely and are continuously supervised
Recent weather conditions have significantly increased the risk of wildfires. High winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation make even small fires dangerous and difficult to control. Your cooperation is essential to help keep our community safe.
This temporary ban will remain in effect until conditions improve. Updates will be provided on the Township’s website and social media channels.
