Beat the Heat: Stay Safe and Cool This Summer!

As the temperatures continue to rise, the Montour Township Police Department wants to remind everyone to prioritize their safety and well-being. With hot temperatures expected in the coming days, it's essential to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.

Here are some valuable tips to help you stay cool and safe:

• Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and other cool beverages.
• Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day (usually between 11am and 3pm).
• Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
• Check on vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly and young children, to ensure they are staying cool and safe.
• Avoid leaving pets or children unattended in vehicles, as temperatures can quickly become deadly.

In addition to these tips, we're happy to announce that several cooling stations will be available in Bloomsburg to provide a safe and cool space for those in need. These stations will be open at the following locations and times:

Wednesday - Thursday, 9am - 8pm
Friday, 9am - 4pm
Saturday, Closed (may open 12pm - 4pm if needed)
