LANSDALE BOROUGH – On Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 2:22 a.m., the Lansdale Borough Police Department responded to a report of a burglary in progress in the 300 block of Vine Street.
The 32-year-old female resident reported that she was asleep in her bedroom when she awoke to find a male stranger kneeling on top of her legs in bed. When the resident got out of bed and attempted to go downstairs, the suspect pushed her back against the bedroom wall. She again attempted to move past the suspect toward the stairs. This time, the male placed his hand around her neck, applying pressure to her throat. He then put the victim in a chokehold, again applying pressure to her throat, preventing her from breathing.
As the struggle continued, the resident was able to break free and call 911. The suspect fled the residence. The victim provided a physical description of the suspect to responding officers; however, the suspect was not immediately located.
Later that day, at approximately 11:12 a.m., Lansdale Police officers observed a male matching the suspect’s description in the area of Wood and Madison Streets. The suspect, identified as Jonathan Isaias Avila Arevalo, was positively identified by the victim and found to be in possession of an item taken from her home.
Further investigation revealed that Jonathan Isaias Avila Arevalo is currently unhoused and undocumented, having entered the United States from Guatemala via Texas in 2023.
