The Upper Saucon Township Police Department, located in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, is currently accepting cover letters and résumés from qualified candidates for the position of Full Time Police Officer.

Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment
  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Must be able to able speak, read and write the English language
  • Must be of good moral character who demonstrates values consistent with those of the organization
  • Must have acquired an Associate’s Degree or its equivalent (60 credit hours) from an accredited college or university OR have an honorable discharge after completing at least 48 months of active military service OR have worked 4,000 hours as a certified police officer. (The term accredited means that the institution is published in the most current Higher Education Directory.) 
  • Applicants must possess requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities, and be physically and psychologically able to perform the essential functions of a police officer
  • Must reside within a twenty-five (25) mile radius of the Township municipal building within twenty-four (24) months of employment
  • Must meet the certification requirements of the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission under Act 120 at the time of application. *If you do not meet this requirement, you may apply via the Lehigh County Chiefs of Police Association Consortium https://www.lehighcountypolicetest.com/

Benefits

  • Starting Salary - $75,982/year with a top patrol officer base salary of $105,123.20
  • 12-hour Shifts
  • Shift differential paid at an additional $1.00 per hour
  • 60 hours of personal time
  • 84 hours of vacation time upon completion of 12 months of service, prorated by date of hire to a maximum of 204 hours per year
  • Sick leave accumulated at 12 hours per month to maximum of 960 hours
  • Health Insurance currently through Capital Blue Cross PPO
  • Education Reimbursement of $1000/year for officers with 120 college credit hours or $500/year for officers with 60 college credit hours
  • Longevity compensation after five years of service
  • Uniform cleaning allowance of $350.00/year
  • Municipal police pension upon meeting eligibility requirements

Successful candidates will be required to take part in an oral interview process and must successfully complete a thorough background investigation (which may include a polygraph examination), physical and psychological examinations in accordance with MPOETC requirements (includes drug screen).
