On March 27 and 28 2026, the West Lampeter Township Police Department participated in the Pennsylvania State Police Operation Nighthawk training and enforcement. The goal of Operation Nighthawk is to address those Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Drugs throughout Lancaster County. On both evenings, several officers with the West Lampeter Township Police Department, along with officers from other law enforcement agencies in the county took part in classroom instruction, training, and DUI case law updates. After the training portion officers returned to their respective jurisdictions and conducted proactive patrols to address suspected DUI drivers. West Lampeter Township police officers who were engaged in Operation Nighthawk stopped nearly 60 motorists during the course of the operation. While no charges for DUI were brought in our jurisdiction, several citations were issued for various violations, and one officer seized a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia during the enforcement. The West Lampeter Township Police Department continues to be continually dedicated to stopping and arresting DUI drivers.
