WLPD Officer Dave Covey participated in the 2021 Toys for Tots “Cops Shopping for Kids” event at Ollie's with Absolute Fitness. Absolute Fitness purchased hundreds of toys from Ollie's Park City location. Police officers from around the County selected and helped load the toys onto the truck for transport to the warehouse. Thanks to Officer Covey and the other officers for taking time out of their schedule, as well as Absolute Fitness for their generosity and Ollie's for working with us!
The Toys For Tots program was started in 1947 by US Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks (actually, the Major’s wife was the inspiration behind it!!) to collect toys to donate to America’s less fortunate children. The Marine Toys For Tots Foundation was started in 1991 as a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit charity to help run and support the program.
