Chief Wiczkowski and Lt Heinly, along with ranking members of the Lancaster Bureau of Police and The Manheim Township Police, were invited to the monthly meeting of the Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Pediatrics Department. The topic of the meeting addressed suicide and gun deaths in Lancaster County. The focus was on the law enforcement perspective and the importance of collaborating with community leaders, such as pediatricians. This included the importance of community engagement with law enforcement, the recent current efforts, and the current grant supplying lock boxes, gun locks and educational opportunities. Recently, the West Lampeter police and a member of Safe Kids Lancaster approached Morr Range in Willow Street to collaborate in training efforts for gun safety. This included providing information to gun purchasers on storage safety and mental health warning signs.
