E-Bikes (Pedalcycles with Electric Assist)

• Age Limit: You must be at least 16 years old to operate an e-bike in Pennsylvania.
• Requirements: E-bikes are legally considered bicycles, so you don't need a driver's license, title, registration, or insurance to ride one.

(To qualify as an e-bike, the bike must have functional pedals, weigh no more than 100 pounds, have a motor up to 750 watts, and travel at a maximum speed of 20 mph.)

Motorized Scooters (2 wheels, electric/gas powered with no seat or saddle)

• The Law: Motorized scooters are not permitted on Pennsylvania roadways or sidewalks.
• Why: These vehicles do not meet Pennsylvania's safety equipment and inspection requirements for motor vehicles, making them ineligible for titling or registration in Pennsylvania.
