Officers from the West Earl Police Department were summoned to a residence in the 300 Block of South Farmersville Road on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 4:48 PM for a report of an injured child.

Upon arrival with EMS from Leola Ambulance and fire service from the Bareville Fire Department, officers found a 19 month old child, Sheri Alise Horning, with multiple traumatic injuries.  Initial investigation indicates the child was struck by skid loader, which was backing up, and operated by her father, Alson Horning.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Carroll Rottmund.

Officers are investigating the cause of the incident in connection with the Lancaster County Coroner’s office and Lancaster County Children and Youth.

Information regarding the determination of the cause of the incident will be released upon completion of the investigation.
