West Earl Township, PA – On Sunday, February 2nd, at approximately 10:20 PM, the West Earl Township Police Department was dispatched to a single-vehicle crash with entrapment at mile marker 40.3 on the northbound lanes of Route 222.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 2019 Jeep Wrangler overturned on its roof off the roadway. The vehicle was occupied by five individuals. Three occupants sustained minor injuries and were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Tragically, one occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by Officers Crills and Sorensen, with assistance from the Lancaster County Crash Team. At the time of the incident, roadway conditions were reported to be extremely icy.
Emergency response agencies assisting at the scene included the West Earl Fire Company, Ephrata Fire Company, Rothsville Ambulance, Reamstown Ambulance, WellSpan Medics, Bareville Fire Company, and East Petersburg Fire Company.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
