On Saturday (2/7/26) at approximately 8:42 a.m. the East Lampeter Township Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Newport Rd. for an incident involving a tractor and a child.  It was determined an adult male was operating the tractor in the northbound lane of the 300 block of Newport Rd. when a 2 year old female fell from the tractor and was run over by the rear tire.   Emergency Medical Services, Police and Fire responded to the scene to render aid, but the child died from her injuries.  East Lampeter Township Police Investigators responded to the scene and are conducting an investigation into the incident.  The Lancaster County Coroner's Office retained custody of the child's body.  This investigation is on-going.
