On November 14, 2017, the East Cocalico Township Police Department conducted a roadside commercial vehicle weigh station/safety inspection detail. A total of 31 vehicles were directed into the detail for closer inspection. Of those vehicles, four trucks and four drivers were deemed an imminent hazard to the motoring public, declared out of service, and prevented from continuing operation.
The most common violations found were defective brakes and drivers with false documents. Only 9 of the vehicles inspected passed without any violations. One driver was arrested for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence.
The Department was assisted by Officers from the following departments; Fleetwood Borough PD, Northwest Regional PD, Northern Berks Regional PD, Muhlenberg Township PD, Westtown/East Goshen Regional PD and the PA State Police.
