Since 2009 the Swatara Township Police Department is accredited by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC) and the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association.  In October 2025, the Department obtained "Premier" status with PLEAC, which goes to those agencies who have been re-accreditated five times consecutively with no extensions.
