With the threat of serious storms over the course of the next couple days, Swatara Township is expecting that local roadways may quickly flood with rain water. Please do not try to drive through a flooded roadway, whether it is marked with barricades or not. The depth of the water can be very misleading and you could become trapped in the middle of a flooded roadway. We'd also like to remind everyone that while you're driving with your windshield wipers "on" you are legally required to have your headlights turned "on." This may not help you see further down the road, but it will greatly help other drivers see your vehicle.
If there is a storm drain on the shoulder of the road near your home, please help us by taking a minute to make sure it is not covered with leaves or other debris. Cleaning the leaves and debris away from the storm drain may help to prevent your roadway from becoming flooded.
Thank you for your help, and be careful out there!
