🚨 Community Alert: Counterfeit Currency 🚨
The Locust Township Police Department has recently seen an increase in counterfeit currency being passed in our area. At this time, the $5 bill shown in the attached photo is the denomination we are seeing.
We encourage all residents and local businesses to carefully inspect any cash they receive before accepting it. Taking a few extra moments to check a bill can help prevent you from becoming a victim of counterfeit money.
Please take a close look at the attached photo so you know what these counterfeit $5 bills look like before accepting cash.
Some things to look for include:
• A security thread embedded in the bill
• A watermark visible when held up to the light
• Sharp, clear printing and proper paper texture
• Any signs that the bill appears unusual or different from a genuine U.S. bill
If you believe you have received a counterfeit bill, do not attempt to pass it to someone else. If possible, note where and when you received it and contact the Locust Township Police Department so an officer can investigate.
Please share this post to help spread awareness and protect our community. Staying informed is one of the best ways to prevent counterfeit currency from circulating.
If you have any information regarding counterfeit money being passed in our area, please contact the Locust Township Police Department.
