Summer Safety Reminder from Solebury Township Police
As temperatures rise this summer, we want everyone in our community to stay safe and enjoy the season.
Heat can be dangerous for both people and pets.
Here are some important tips:
For People:
Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
Avoid outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day (10 AM – 4 PM) when possible.
Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and use sunscreen.
Never leave children or vulnerable adults in a parked car, even with windows cracked.
Know the signs of heat exhaustion: heavy sweating, dizziness, nausea, or rapid pulse. Move to a cool place and seek medical help if symptoms worsen.
For Pets:
Never leave pets in a vehicle—temperatures inside can become deadly in minutes.
Provide plenty of fresh, cool water and shade if they’re outdoors.
Limit exercise during peak heat; walk dogs early morning or late evening.
Watch for signs of heatstroke in pets: excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or vomiting. Get them to a vet immediately if you notice these.
Stay alert, check on neighbors and elderly family members, and call 911 for emergencies.
Stay safe, Solebury!
