Proclamation from The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission for Officer’s Murphy and Dorsey of the Solebury Township Police Department and Corporal Michael Johnson of the Plumstead Township Police Department.
The DRJTBC is a bistate transportation agency with a network of 20 bridges linking the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey with one of the river crossings being the Lumberville-Raven Rock Toll-Supported Pedestrian Bridge between Solebury Township, PA. and Delaware Township, N.J.
At approximately 4:37 a.m. on January 1, 2024, Solebury Police Officer Brendan Murphy was dispatched to the bridge where a woman reportedly was threatening to jump into the river below.
STPD Officer Patrick Dorsey and Plumstead Township Corporal Michael Johnson arrived and proceeded to assist Officer Murphy by securely and safely dislodging the woman from the railing and lifting her back onto the bridge’s walkway surface.
Officers Murphy and Dorsey and Corporal Johnson exhibited professionalism, fortitude, and a steadfast adherence to their oaths and training by preventing a potentially fatal incident at a Commission bridge.
