General Description
The Solebury Township Police Department is seeking a dedicated and professional individual to serve as a Community Service Officer / Records Clerk. This full-time hybrid position combines community engagement responsibilities with essential administrative duties. The successful candidate will assist law enforcement personnel in non-emergency situations, promote public safety through outreach initiatives, and manage critical records in compliance with departmental, state, and federal regulations.
As a Community Service Officer, you will provide support for community programs, assist officers with traffic control and event security, and respond to non-criminal incidents. In addition, you will serve as a vital link between the department and the public, ensuring positive interactions and fostering trust within the community.
In your role as Records Clerk, you will maintain, organize, and archive police records, process public records requests in accordance with Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law, and accurately input and retrieve data using systems such as RMS, CAD, PA TraCS, and PennDOT Crash Reporting. You will also compile and submit UCR and NIBRS data to state and federal agencies, respond to public inquiries, and ensure confidentiality and compliance with CHRIA and other applicable laws.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, with an associate’s degree preferred. One to two years of clerical or administrative experience in a public safety environment is required, and prior law enforcement experience is highly desirable. Proficiency in JNET, PA TraCS, PennDOT Crash Reporting, RMS, and CAD systems, as well as knowledge of UCR and NIBRS standards, is essential. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, are required, and the ability to obtain necessary certifications within six months of hire is expected.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and discretion in handling confidential information. Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and excellent interpersonal skills for community engagement are critical.
