Happy 250th Independence Day!
This weekend, we celebrate America’s 250th birthday! Whether you're hosting friends and family, traveling to see fireworks, or attending public celebrations in our community, your safety is our top priority.
Safety Tips for a Safe & Joyful Holiday Weekend:
Hosting at Home
- Supervise all fireworks use at all times, keep a hose or bucket of water nearby and only use legal consumer fireworks. Never allow children to handle them.
- Practice grill safety: keep children and pets away from the grill, never leave it unattended, and have a fire extinguisher ready.
- Celebrate responsibly, designate a sober driver or arrange alternate transportation if alcohol is served.
Traveling
- Buckle up, drive sober, and stay alert, expect heavier traffic and impatient drivers.
- Ensure your vehicle is in good condition (tires, brakes, lights) before any road trip.
- Never leave valuables visible in your car and always lock your doors.
At Public Gatherings & Fireworks Displays
- Stay aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious activity to police immediately.
- Have a family meeting place in case you get separated.
- Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and watch your children closely in crowds.
- Follow all posted rules and instructions from event staff and law enforcement.
- If you see something that doesn’t look right, say something. Dial 911 for emergencies.
Let’s make this historic 250th celebration safe and memorable for everyone!
