SCAM ALERT ~ PLEASE READ

Dear Newtown Borough Residents,
It has come to the attention of the Newtown Borough Police Department that victims are receiving phone calls from a Detective Brian Webb who is claiming to work for Newtown Borough Police Department who is assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The phone call will come from what appears to be the police department phone number. This is a scam. The suspects are using an application called “SpoofCard” to change the caller ID to show Newtown Borough Police Departments phone number.
Newtown Borough Police Department does not employee a DETECTIVE BRIAN WEBB. Newtown Borough Police Department also will NEVER ask you to pay money in order to avoid prosecution, or to pay a victim money to avoid prosecution.
