Spring Township Police Department has been made aware of a scam involving a male approaching people in parking lots trying to sell jewelry.  The male was travelling in a gray minivan with a Texas license plate along with a female and several small children.  He approached the victim while he pumped gas, telling him that he desperately needed cash to get his family back to Texas.  He offered to sell the victim some gold jewelry and a high-end watch to raise the money.  After completing the deal, the victim found out  from a reputable jeweler that the jewelry was not real gold and the watch was a counterfeit.  The jeweler advised that nearly a dozen customers had been touch with him and told very similar stories.  Beware! If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!!
