Sheriff Fitting is a dedicated law enforcement professional, military leader, father, and proud resident who has called Adams County home for more than 14 years. His commitment to this county runs deeper than politics. It is rooted in service, family, and a genuine belief that communities thrive when people feel safe, supported, and heard.

With a career built on discipline and leadership, Josh brings 19 years of military service to the table. During that time, he served five years as the Pennsylvania Emergency Preparedness NCO, helping coordinate readiness, response planning, and emergency operations. Most recently, he has served as an E8 Master Sergeant assigned to the Army’s Inspector General team, where accountability, standards, fairness, and trust are the daily currency of leadership. 

Sheriff Fitting believes experience matters, but character matters more. He is a father first, a friend to many, and a public servant who understands that leadership is not about titles. It is about showing up, listening, and doing the hard work when no one is watching.

One of Josh’s greatest passions is the future of our youth. He knows children who are supported, encouraged, and guided today become the strong citizens, business owners, parents, and leaders of tomorrow. That is why he values partnerships with organizations like the Adams County Youth Coalition and supports programs that create opportunity, mentorship, and positive direction for young people. He believes every child deserves adults who invest in their success before trouble ever finds them.

As Sheriff, Josh’s focus will be clear: hold offenders accountable, support the courts, and provide dependable services to the people of Adams County. Public safety is not just about arrests. It is about professionalism, responsiveness, prevention, and trust.

Transparency creates trust. The Sheriff’s Office belongs to the PEOPLE, and the PEOPLE deserve openness, communication, and accountability. When government operates behind curtains, confidence erodes. Josh believes in opening the windows.
