K9 Mikey is a 110lb, 2-year-old German Shepherd assigned to Officer Christopher Clair. K9 Mikey is certified in Patrol (Handler protection and suspect apprehension), Narcotics Detection, Tracking and Article Search. K9 Mikey was imported from Czechoslovakia and began his formal training at Von Klein Stein Working Dog Kennels(VKSWD) in Arkansas on 07/04/2023(his first birthday). K9 Mikey became a member of the Corning Police Department in September of 2023 when Officer Clair selected K9 Mikey at VKSWD. After completing the 160hr Dual Purpose handler school, K9 Mikey and Officer Clair became National Narcotic Detector Dog Association(NNDDA) certified. K9 Mikey and Officer Clair returned to New York where they continued an additional 160hrs of training and became NYS DCJS certified on 01/31/2024. K9 Mikey and Officer Clair further developed their training and certification in October of 2024 by attending a 5 day working seminar and became North American Police Working Dog Association(NAPWDA) certified in Patrol and Narcotic Detection.
