Remembering Lee Barta, 30 years later
Today, we honor the memory of Officer Lee Barta, who gave his life in the line of duty 30 years ago. His courage, commitment to public service, and dedication to protecting our community will never be forgotten.
Lee’s legacy lives on through his son, Officer Dan Barta, who serves with the Vestal Police Department, walking the same path his father once did, with the same strength and heart.
We remember Lee not only for his service, but also for the example he set as a hero, a father, and a protector.
End of Watch is not the end of a legacy.
We carry his memory with us, today and always.
We thank the Binghamton Police Department for the touching memorial service put on by members of the Police Benevolent Association. After 30 years, these men and women still honor Lee's legacy and continue to keep the Barta family close.
