On September 14, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers with the Austell Police Department responded to the 6000 block of Dr. Luke Glenn Garrett Jr. Memorial Highway regarding a report of a person shot.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim lying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Austell Police officers and responding emergency medical personnel immediately began providing emergency medical aid.

The victim was transported to Wellstar Cobb Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Detectives with the Cobb County Police Department Crimes Against Persons Unit responded to the scene to assist the Austell Police Department with the investigation.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Based on the information currently available, investigators believe this was an isolated incident, and there is no known ongoing threat to the public at this time.
