The Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1 students are heading back to school, and the Cortez Police Department is asking everyone to help keep this a safe and positive start to the year.

Families will be walking, biking, and driving to school, so please slow down, stay alert, and watch carefully for children at crosswalks and obey school zone speed limits.

Buckle up every time and stay focused so we can all support the Vision Zero goal of zero traffic fatalities and serious injuries in our community.
