Today, we stop for a moment to remember Sergeant Michael Moran, a dedicated Cortez police officer who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on November 29, 2023. It's hard to believe it's been two years since we lost our friend.

Sergeant Moran was a guardian, a friend, a son, a brother, and a loving father. He gave his life in the line of duty, protecting our community during a traffic stop on South Broadway where a memorial still remains.

As we remember Mike, we honor him by continuing to try to make our community a better, safer place for all of us.

Rest in peace, Sergeant Michael Moran.
