8/24/26 - Ransdell is scheduled to appear on 8/27/26 for a return filing of charges at 9:00am. 

Carl Ransdell was arrested in Montezuma Combined Courts case number 26CR135 after Cortez Police Department officers responded to a shots-fired call on Ridge Drive in Cortez, Colorado, on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Officers remained on scene for approximately three hours as they worked to safely encourage Mr. Ransdell to exit the residence. He was ultimately transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.

7:08pm - The man has been safely removed from the home and is being evaluated by medical personnel.

6:37pm - There is currently police activity in the area of Ridge Drive in Cortez where officers are attempting to make contact with a man who is inside a home and is reported to have a gun. 
We ask residents in the neighborhoods of Ridge Drive, West Driscoll, and West Carpenter to stay indoors so officers can safely and effectively make contact with the individual and ensure the safety of everyone in the neighborhood.
Please avoid this area until further notice. Keeping the area clear will help officers and emergency services work safely and efficiently.
