The Cortez Police Department would like to congratulate our new officer, Jacob Bourdon! 

He has been in the Law Enforcement Academy at Pueblo Community College since July 31, 2023. The five-month program provided training that focused on patrol, investigation, firearms, driving, and arrest control. 

Assistant Chief, Andy Brock of the Cortez Police Department spoke to the graduates reminding them of the privilege and responsibility of the job, to work hard, respect all, and to keep perspective on the things that matter. "You will love this work.  You will work hard.  Your work, what you do is important.  Never forget, never neglect your family."  

Jacob graduated on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at River Bend Event Center in Durango where he celebrated with his family.  Pictured is his fiancée, Lauren pinning his police badge on him.  Jacob passed his final and will now begin his 14-week patrol training with a field training officer (FTO).
