Did you know that texting 911 has been available in Montezuma County for some time, but many people still don’t realize it is an option?
During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 2026, we are highlighting the dispatchers who work around the clock and use tools like Text‑to‑911 to make sure help is always accessible. Texting 911 can be vital in situations where calling is not possible or safe, such as when someone is hiding, unable to speak, or experiencing a medical emergency that limits communication.
Our dispatchers are trained to handle these messages quickly and efficiently, ensuring responders get the information they need even when a voice call cannot be made.
Call if you can, text if you can’t, and join us in recognizing the dispatchers who are always ready to respond.
