The City of Cortez and surrounding areas are seeing an influx of Counterfeit $5.00 Bills being circulated to local business and elsewhere. Please note the bills resemble an Official Reserve Note, but will all have the identical serial numbers of PK42691282A. The Cortez Police Department has included a photo of the front and back of the counterfeit bill currently being circulated with above the listed serial number. If anyone has received a counterfeit bill, or have any information on the source of the counterfeit bills, please contact the Cortez Police Department at 970-565-8441.  Together we can make a difference.
