We are proud to announce that Officer Michael Rivas is taking the next step in his career as he transitions from Patrol to the Detectives Division. This achievement reflects his hard work and dedication to serving the community.
Michael is a Cortez hometown athlete and a member of the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers 2002 State Basketball Team. After high school, he served 8½ years in the United States Marine Corps before choosing a career in law enforcement. Since joining CPD, Michael has become a respected Pueblo Community College Southwest Regional Law Enforcement academy instructor and continues to share his expertise as a firearms instructor and defensive tactics instructor. This new role marks an important milestone and highlights the commitment he shows in serving the community.
Please join us in congratulating Detective Rivas as he brings his experience to his new role in the Detectives Division.
