Phillip Westly Spearing, age 35, of Ephrata, PA, was arrested and charged with Criminal Attempt at Criminal Trespass, Loitering & Prowling at Night, and two counts of Simple Assault following an incident at the Conestoga Manor Mobile Home Park, 3868 Oregon Pike.
A resident of the mobile home park alerted police when her young children said they heard someone trying to gain entry to the bedroom through a window. A resident of the home went outside and saw Spearing running away from the home. The resident, along with a neighbor, gave chase. Spearing had parked his car in the driveway of a nearby residence and when getting to his car he punched the neighbor, who was assisting in the chase, in the face. The neighbor, a 53 year old man from the mobile home park, suffered swelling to his eye. Spearing was able to get into his car and when trying to leave, struck a female who resides at the home he tried to enter. The female, a 32 year old female, suffered a knee injury.
Police arrived and took Spearing into custody. Spearing was arraigned before MDJ Miles Bixler and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
