On July 6, 2026, officers with the Stroud Area Regional Police Department were dispatched to Creekview Apartments, located at Ed Christine Drive, in Stroudsburg Borough, for a report of a 51-year-old female who had sustained two lacerations to her face and one laceration to her shoulder. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she received treatment for her injuries.
Through the course of the investigation, officers determined that Israel Bracero, a 43 year old male from Stroudsburg, allegedly attacked the victim with an edged weapon, causing significant injuries. The victim did recognize the male as someone who lived in the apartment complex with a female she knew.
As a result, criminal charges were filed against Bracero, and an arrest warrant was issued on July 8, 2026.
On August 12, 2026, Bracero was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force on the aggravated assault warrant, as well as a parole warrant issued out of New York.
Bracero was subsequently arraigned before District Magistrate Johnson, who denied bail.
The Stroud Area Regional Police Department would like to thank the United States Marshals Service for its assistance with this investigation.
